Within the context of a homework, a 10-year-old boy lists some arguments for and against life on earth.

 

Audience Award and Best Scenario Prize

 

J'viendrai t'chercher, Sophie Dupuis
Fiction film (Quebec)

Manu lives in a youth center. During his week-end off, his mother leaves him at his father's place. As always, Manu witness the abuse his father inflicts on his younger brother. In despair, Manu asks his mother to get him out of this situation.

I met the Walrus, Josh Raskin
Animated film (Ontario)

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatles fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace, the Beatles and life. Jerry has now produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative, which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation.

Madame Tutli-Putli boards the night train, weighed down with all her earthly possessions and the ghosts of her past. She travels alone, facing both the kindness and menace of strangers. As day descends into dark, she finds herself caught up in a desperate metaphysical adventure. Adrift between real and imagined worlds, Madame Tutli-Putli confronts her demons and is drawn into an undertow of mystery and suspense.

Some simple gestures during a visit. Words become inadequate or unbearable? Always the same confrontation of waiting, faith and silence.

Un dimanche à 105 ans, Daniel Léger
Documentary (Canada)

It is sunday and a centennial Acadian accepts to share her philosophies of life in front of the camera. Filmed in her everyday life by her great-grandson, Aldéa Pellerin-Cormier tackles universal subjects in her own way. From the morning when she dress up, until the "before-going-to-bed" drink, fastly swallowed, every moment is punctuated by an unexpected witticism or an existential reflection.

John the polar bear apologies to Karen the penguin after an argument they had and then has some tea and a biscuit.
