Big names at the Festival
Professional Jury
Laurent Lucas > Jury President
Laurent Lucas, a French actor known for the subtlety in his performances, has performed in over thirty films since 1997 and shot into the public spotlight with Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien. In 2003, three films in which Lucas participated were selected by the prestigious Festival de Cannes, and in 2005, found himself back at Cannes for Lemming by Dominik Moll. Lucas moved to Quebec six years ago, and can be seen in many Quebec productions including Sur la trace d'Igor Rizzi by Noël Mitrany, La Capture by Carole Laure and Toi by François Delisle.
Bogdan Stefan > Jury
After studying film in France, exploring new creative arenas and building his production experience by working at the heart of the Romanian film industry, Bogdan Stefan received his Master's Degree in Art (with a specialization in cinema) from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi.
In the last ten years, Stefan has written and directed numerous short films. In 2002, his short film Pop Corn Story was selected in the Panorama category at the Berlin International Film Festival, and has received several writing and production bursaries. Stefan is currently completing his most recent film, Sur la frontière.
Guylaine Dionne > Jury
Guylaine Dionne has directed numerous award-winning fictional short films. Her first feature film, Les Fantômes des trios Madeleine, had its world premiere at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Festival de Cannes in 2000.
In 2006, Dionne received the Don Haig prize, honouring her fiction and documentary work as a filmmaker. This prize is awarded to an up-and coming filmmaker. Her next film Serveuses demandées, will be released in the near future.
Public Jury
The public jury is represented by five residents of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean who are not film industry or media professionals.
