| About The Festival |

REGARD sur le court métrage au Saguenay [a look at Short Films in the Saguenay], a festival produced by non-profit organization Caravane Films, is a regional event with an international platform dedicated to the presentation and promotion of short films and informing the public about the short film art form. REGARD gives directors a chance to speak with the public and different professionals involved in this particular field of cinema. Above all, the Festival is a beacon and meeting-place for the new generation of Canadian short-filmmakers in an international environment.

REGARD also aims to promote education, primarily among youth at the primary and secondary school levels, by organizing screening sessions created especially for them. Furthermore, this area of the Festival has been growing steadily since its inception and is well-known and eagerly anticipated by schools in the area.

The short films are presented in two main halls, each with a seating capacity of over 700, and in a smaller cabaret-style screening room with a seating capacity of 110. This room is reserved specifically for movie connoisseurs (essay and experimental films) and allows our team to promote a more targeted cinematic experience. In addition to the eighteen screenings during which the public can view over 150 short films, REGARD offers a dozen parallel activities, drawing a diversified audience (students, families, young professionals, professionals in the film industry, etc.).

Today, after 11 years, the Festival is recognized as the most important event dedicated solely to short films in Quebec and one of the six biggest short film festivals in North America . It is also becoming increasingly well-known internationally thanks to its various exchanges. Presented over five days, mainly in Chicoutimi and Jonquière, the Festival is considered to be the driving event of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean winter season. This 13th edition will take place from March 11th to March 15th 2009.
